Custom Five panel Hanger Boxes

Five panel hanger boxes are built to hang. Literally. They’ve got a built-in hook tab, fold flat, and come together in a few seconds — no glue, no extras. These are great for lightweight stuff that needs to be seen on the wall, not buried on a shelf. Think cables, lip balm, or trial-size anything.

Five Panel Hanger Boxes: When Your Product Needs a Hook, Not a Shelf

Let me guess — your product’s small, maybe under half a pound, and it’s supposed to be sold hanging on a peg. You’ve probably looked at plastic bags or maybe a blister pack, but something about that just feels… cheap.

That’s when this box comes in.

Five panel hanger boxes are folding cartons, sure — but they’ve got a little trick built in. One of the panels folds up into a die-cut hook tab, so you can slide it right onto retail pegboard hooks. No tape. No extra tags. Just the box itself, designed to hang straight and look sharp.

What It Actually Looks Like (Not the Fancy Version)

Imagine a regular tuck-end box. Now take the back panel and extend it up. That’s your fifth panel — it folds over the top and sticks up like a little flag. That flag has a hole in it (usually an “EU” slot or a round one), and that’s where the hook goes.

It still folds flat. You still ship it like any other carton. But when it’s open and filled? It hangs vertically, faces forward, and gives your brand a fighting chance at eye level.

Who’s Using These?

If you’ve walked into a pharmacy or convenience store lately, you’ve seen these already — probably didn’t realize it. They’re in just about every aisle.

You’ll find them used for:

  • USB cables, chargers, earphones
  • Lip balm, eye cream, small skincare kits
  • Vitamin sachets, single-serve supplements
  • Trial sizes of anything
  • Repair kits, sewing needles, patches, craft bits

Basically, anything you can grab with one hand and doesn’t need to sit in a box.

So… Why Not Use a Pouch?

Pouches are fine. They’re cheap and they hang. But they crumple. They slide around. They don’t really help you tell your story unless you slap on a label.

These boxes? They give you five printable panels (and more, if you count inside), so you can actually build something that looks like a brand — not a sample in a baggie.

Plus, they’re stiffer. They hold their shape. They don’t flop forward or lean sideways once you hang them up.

And guess what? Store staff actually prefer these. They’re easier to handle, easier to scan, and they don’t need to be backed with extra signage or hang tags.

And the Build? Pretty Simple.

The fifth panel folds up from the back, wraps over the top, and locks in. The hook hole is die-cut when it’s printed. The top flap tucks in, same as any other box. If you’re using a reverse tuck or straight tuck structure, you already know how to build the rest.

It doesn’t take longer to fold — maybe a second more. But you get a ton more shelf appeal for that second.

Design Options: Not Just a White Box

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing. We’ve seen brands do some cool stuff with these:

  • Matte or soft-touch for cosmetics
  • High gloss for tech
  • Die-cut windows (so you can see what’s inside)
  • Spot UV on logos or embossing on the header tab
  • Interior printing (if you’re shipping this inside an outer box)

You’ve got the space. You might as well use it.

Where It Makes Sense

We usually recommend this style when:

  • Your product’s light, but not flimsy
  • You’re going into retail and need something peg-ready
  • You don’t want to deal with blister packs or bagged items
  • You need to keep your per-unit cost low, but still look pro
  • You want to print your whole brand story — not just a logo

You can run short batches or scale big — we support it already, so no weird tooling or surprises.

It’s a tuck-end folding carton with an extra panel that folds up from the back to form a little header tab. That tab is die-cut with a hole (an “EU” slot or a round hole) so the box hangs straight on a peg — no extra hang-tag or tape needed.
They’re made for small, light items — think roughly under half a pound, the sort of thing a customer picks up with one hand: chargers, lip balm, trial skincare, small repair kits and the like.
Pouches can crumple and shift; blister packs give you little room to tell your story. A hanger box holds its shape on the hook, doesn’t flop or lean, and gives you several printable panels to show branding, instructions or ingredients.
Imagine a regular tuck box. Now extend the back panel up and fold it over the top; that extension becomes the header tab with the die-cut hole. It still ships flat, but when folded and filled it hangs vertically and faces forward on the peg.
