SBS Cardboard
Premium bleached substrate engineered for retail-ready packaging with sharp, high-resolution print performance across bulk SKUs.
Custom beverage boxes carry bottles, cans, cartons and multipacks from the packing line through warehouse stacking, retail display and delivery. The core problem is stopping internal movement while supporting the full weight of liquid-filled containers so the board stays intact and the base does not collapse.

Glass bottles and can multipacks create focused pressure points on the base and walls. Light board or excess space inside lets the carton crush under stack weight or allows the product to rattle during transit. That practical reality drives the choice of custom beverage boxes over a standard carton.
Lighter retail multipacks that stay on the shelf often work with a straight or reverse tuck-end carton. Heavier loads or any shipping route call for an auto-bottom or crash-lock base. These styles support the weight better and assemble faster.
Inserts or partitions stop bottles and cans from knocking together. Without them labels scuff and glass can take impact damage. Windows show the product clearly but cut into printable space and reduce strength around the opening. Match the structure to the actual product size and to how the boxes will be packed—simple tucks suit hand packing, locking bases suit higher-volume lines.
SBS and kraft paperboard print well and fold cleanly. They handle shelf packs that stay dry and see only light stacking. Corrugated board brings a fluted core that spreads compression and resists crushing when the boxes travel by truck or sit in warehouse stacks.
The downside is bulk. Corrugated needs more storage space and can cost more on lighter products that do not require the extra strength. Exact board grade and flute are chosen only after fill weight, unit count and stack height are known. One material never fits every beverage order.
Cold drinks produce condensation. That moisture softens untreated paper fibres and can weaken the box during refrigerated storage or cold-chain transport. Aqueous coatings or moisture-resistant treatments reduce the risk, yet the right coating depends on how long the pack stays cold, the temperature range, and whether the board touches the product or only forms the outer container.
Food-contact rules come from the product itself and the planned use of the food packaging box. Confirm the required compliance level before locking in board and coating. Those details decide suitability.
Offset printing keeps colour consistent on longer runs and performs best on smooth SBS. Digital printing works for short runs, prototypes or frequent design changes because no plates are needed. Kraft board soaks up more ink and softens lighter colours. White or coated stock holds colour more accurately.
Large solid ink areas show scuffs and handling marks more readily during packing and shipping. Many brands therefore keep solid coverage limited or add a protective finish. Aqueous coating gives basic protection. Matte or gloss lamination improves scuff resistance. Spot UV or foil can highlight brand elements. Every finish adds cost and may change recycling behaviour, so select only what the handling conditions actually need.
Display trays and tray-and-sleeve packs need clear graphics and easy opening on shelf or in cooler cases. Shipping and mailer versions need stacking strength and secure closures. Boxes that are too large waste material and cube space. Boxes that are too small risk product damage and slow packing.
Closure style affects line speed. A plain tuck flap packs quickly by hand on lighter packs. Locking bases speed assembly on higher volumes but use more board and raise unit cost. Tight inserts protect the product yet can slow manual packing if the fit is too exact.
Measure the filled product—bottle diameter and height, can count, carton footprint or multipack layout—then leave only the minimum clearance needed. Board grade follows the weight and the distribution path. Closure and style follow the packing method and whether the pack must open easily at retail or stay closed through delivery.
Artwork has to fit the chosen dieline. Correct bleed and safe margins keep logos and text away from folds and cuts. Brand colours match more reliably when Pantone references are supplied. A proof confirms both structure and print before production begins.
Repeat orders stay consistent when the same dieline, board grade and print specs are used again. Die-cut and fold tolerances exist on every job; the finished box must still hold the product securely and close properly.
List the filled product measurements, unit count per pack, and total weight. Note whether the boxes will stay on retail shelves, move through chilled storage, or travel by e-commerce and wholesale routes. Mention any must-have features such as inserts, windows or specific closures, plus preferred print method and brand colour references.
Add the target quantity and whether reorders are expected. Include any known limits around moisture, condensation or food contact. With those points the production team can set board grade, structure, coating and method without guesswork.
